VanessaVhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11401663241972529131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7326672.post-17829228308106227872011-04-16T15:41:09.739+08:002011-04-16T15:41:09.739+08:00Merci Emily.

John-Paul,
You have a keen eye. The saucer received some tea from Teaparker's brew. A gaiwan looses heat faster than a teapot, so, I think, Teaparker poured a little bit more boiling water in order to bring the temperature higher and get more out of the leaves. We didn't ask him about it. This brew was just amazing. (Better than the 2 brews I made before and those I made afterwards, I gladly admit).

The teapots are property of the Tea Institute. I think most come from the same supplier as yours. I agree with your opinion on that teapot (I had one with a similar problem before, which is one of the reasons my teas were not good before learning tea with Teaparker.).
The quality of the pots is variable. Very lucky indeed!

I noticed that while preparing the puerh tea, the saucer underneath the gaiwan was flooded with tea. I'm very curious about this. Could you explain how and why this might have been the case?

I'm also wondering if the teapots on the table were the property of the students? The small, shiny, red teapot that is on the side of the table nearest Teaparker, looks identical to one I once had. It was a $50, mass produced pot, sold by Yunnan Sourcing, among others. Mine turned out to be a horrible little pot, that sapped all the flavour out of the tea, and had an odd chemical smell when left with the lid on for a period of time. I thought the shine on the outside of the pot alone should have been a warning to me. But I assume that all the pots depicted in your photos are of decent quality. Do you have any experience with such teapots?
