D...Thank you very much for your eloquent comment.

During these pictures, I usually drink alone. However, in the evening, I continue to use the same setup (and tea) and drink with my wife and the guests we may have at home. (This week, it was her 90 years old grand mother!).TeaMastershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02433657904904185875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7326672.post-24361011274512451242011-03-18T10:59:00.602+08:002011-03-18T10:59:00.602+08:00I also meant to ask you who you are typically serv...I also meant to ask you who you are typically serving tea to? I noticed that you tend have several cups in most of your setups. Do you drink them all yourself, or are you serving tea to a small group of people?

It's also interesting the way the people that we are drinking with greatly influence the way the tea is perceived. I suppose that in this sense it would be almost disrespectful to serve quality gao shan cha to guests that lack gratitude and appreciation. I guess that's what tea bags are for.John-Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00408880659402476276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7326672.post-12125836809218826632011-03-18T10:52:51.528+08:002011-03-18T10:52:51.528+08:00Well put Stephane! Words of wisdom to say the lea...Well put Stephane! Words of wisdom to say the least. I agree that love and respect are the first and most important ingredients in any human endeavor, including enjoying tea.

In this sense, the act of preparing and enjoying tea is very much a microcosm of the universe and the human experience in general. It is very much a spiritual exercise for me. It is so refreshing and encouraging to see that you and others share this understanding.

This may all sound rather flaky to many people. But anyone truly passionate about the art of tea will agree that one's way of thinking, one's attitude, and one's demeanor all factor heavily into the quality of the tea experience. I suppose we could say that what is in one's heart, determines what is in one's cup. Or it at least determines how we perceive the contents of that cup. Of course, good water, leaves, and equipment can really help too. However, they are not enough in themselves.

It's also kind of funny how you sometimes seem to read minds with your posts. After reading your last post, I was wondering what types of oolongs specifically you are drinking. I didn't even need to ask. This week I have also been paying special attention to my mood and my attitude while preparing tea. I've also been noticing what a difference it can make.

Lessons in tea, are like lessons in life. Perhaps this simple truth alone is reason enough to expose and educate our children in the various aspects of tea passion. The tea itself can be thought of as the path, or the mechanism. While the ultimate destination, or result, is true love for one's self and all of creation, a deep appreciation for human history and culture, and a fundamental respect for the intimate interconnections that permeate all things.
