Philippe came up with a good idea to store puerh in regions with low humidity levels. I think it's such a good idea that I want to share it with you (before he decides to patent it!) He stores his puerh in a drawer (no smells) and adds a special sponge that is used to humidify instruments like violins that would otherwise crack. You can see some examples of
such humidifiers here. (No affiliation).
Yes it's true, I tried this system but be careful, it seems to be a little bit dangerous for the Pu Er according to the famous taiwanese teahouse in Paris. They told me It's better to have none, because it's very difficult to control such a system and the damages could be enormous for your teas... Since, I gave up this humidifier !

ReplyDeleteMaybe you should add a humidity meter in your drawer and check that the level never goes above 80%. Otherwise, if it's safe for the Stradivarius, I don't know why it would be dangerous for the puerh...
ReplyDeleteStephanie, the reason it is dangerous for pu-erh and not for a stratavarious is not the humidity, but the bacteria that breeds in a humid sponge.
