The seasons of Oriental Beauty Oolong

Did you enjoy this week's lesson (the amazing 1980s Dong Ding Oolong)? 2 Tie Guan Yin Oolongs remain to be studied in the current Oolong class and then we'll move towards a different type of tea: high oxidation! So, part of the winter semester, we will devote to Oriental Beauty Oolong! I was able to set up a very interesting sampler made from Oriental Beauties made by the same farmer in Hsin Chu county where each sample was harvested in a different season.

This sampler will enable us to taste and analyze these 3 teas and better understand how the season's weather conditions impact this type of high oxidized Oolong. 

I will add more high oxidized teas for the winter class. Please let me know if you have any suggestions of teas that you would like to be included in the course of next semester. The goal of my online classes is to help you gain a better understanding about the character of each tea, so that you will brew it well and extract the most out of the leaves I've selected for you!
It just happens that I attended my first tea class 20 years ago this fall! Tea is a very demanding and broad subject. And the more you move into the realms of top quality, the more your knowledge will become useful to brew well and to recognize value, quality and genuine tea. A good start is to be able to recognize the impact of each season on tea!
The reward of a good tea lesson is good tea and this is what is keeping us motivated!
